FAQ

What exactly does a doula do?

A doula is a non-medical support person who provides emotional support, physical comfort, evidenced based information and a calm reassuring presence during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
Think of me as a birth bestie helping you to feel confident in advocating for your own choices.

Are doulas only for homebirths or “natural” births?

Not at all! I support all types of births - hospital, home, birth center, cesarean, medicated, unmedicated and everything in between. My role is to support your choices and help you feel empowered no matter how or where you birth.

Can my partner still be involved if I hire a doula?

Absolutely! A doula doesn’t replace your partner - we support both of you. I help partners feel more confident, calm and prepared, offering suggestions and guidance so they can be as involved as they want to be. We make a great team!

Is hiring a doula worth it if I already have a midwife or obstetrician?

Yes! While your care providers focus on clinical needs, a doula provides continuous emotional and physical support that compliments their role. I’m there just for you - through the long hours, the in-betweens and every decision along the way while medical personal are often understaffed and supporting multiple women at once.

When should I hire a doula?

The sooner the better. This allows us time to build a trusting relationship and prepare together. But honestly, it’s never too late. Whether you’re 10 or 39 weeks, I’m here for you!

Do you offer payment plans?

I believe support should be accessible and I am more than happy to chat about payment options that work best for you.
